White Joins Staff as Youth Services Coordinator

Rachael White joins the library staff as the new Youth Services Coordinator.

Rachael White joined the staff at Bertha Bartlett Public Library as the Youth Services Coordinator in late August 2017. White will lead programming for preschool, KOOL (K-4th) and teens. Stop into the library to meet our newest staff member!

Tell us about your connection to Story City. In 2016, I married RJ White, whose family has lived in Story City for many years. I grew up in Bondurant. RJ and I met at my church in Ames.

Where did you go to school/work previously? I graduated from Iowa State in December 2016. My degree is in History Education and Political Science. I worked as a substitute teacher for the remainder of the 2016-17 school year and worked as a nanny to three over the summer.

What book would you recommend? After my last final at Iowa State, I read Flutterwheel by Susan V. Duke in one sitting. It was so good!

What are your hobbies? I enjoy traveling,  visiting historic sites, hiking, shopping, being with friends and family and watching HGTV.

What would people be surprised to know about you? I was a 9-year-old arm wrestling champion in Nebraska in 2000.

What are you most excited about in your new position at the library? I enjoy reading to children and singing. So I am looking forward to leading Preschool Storytime.
